INT Jazz - Melodee Lutgring
For Int Jazz the dancer must have mastered
basic jazz technique and be ready to push to the next level.
The class will focus on the dancer's coordination and musicality.
The jazz choreography will allow the dancer to work on their ability
to be sharp and fluid. The dancer will work on different styles
of jazz and be introduced to contemporary movement. ADV Contemporary-Nicole Wolcott
This vigorous class combines the virtuosity of classical
technique and the release of post-modern dance with Wolcott's own dramatic idiosyncrasies. The result is a quirky but
highly athletic aesthetic that one student describes as, "Punk rock/release- based modern dance." Young dancers will be invited to explore their own performance skills while honing their core technique.
Each student will be challenged to master advanced contemporary movement within the parameters of an intermediate class level.
Class will focus on strength training, flexibility and teaching the mind and body to work smarter, not harder. By exploring
the physics of body weight through drops, catches, and turns, students may develop a technique that is both dynamic and nuanced.
Phrase work includes gesture, patterns of flight and fall, inversion and performance technique. Material for this class
is drawn from various techniques and movement styles including Limon, hip-hop, ballet and release. It is Wolcott's
priority to include a sense of fun and creativity in the dancer's approach to growth. PRO Modern - Nicole Wolcott
